Planned Giving

The Heritage Society

Making a planned gift to Bishop Guilfoyle Academy is very special to us.  It states that you not only care about supporting the mission of the school today, but tomorrow as well.  You are a visionary leader and we honor you.

You become a member of The Heritage Society by simply letting us know that you included Bishop Guilfoyle in your will or estate plan.  Please contact the Advancement Office for more information on The Heritage Society.

What is a Planned Gift?

  • A way to make a charitable gift now / presented after your lifetime
  • Reap the financial benefits now; if your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift’s full value
  • Made from assets in your estate; does not deplete your disposable income
  • A gift that is realized upon your death
  • Everyone can make a planned gift, even those with modest means

We hope that you would choose to include Bishop Guilfoyle Academy in your will or estate planning.  This type of gift is simple, versatile, flexible, and can provide tax relief.

Designate BG as a beneficiary in your IRA/401(k)

This is the simplest and quickest option. Login to your online account and change your beneficiary designation to allocate a percentage to Bishop Guilfoyle Academy. Some brokers enable this to be done completely online. Others may require you to fill out a form and return it to them. Either way, it is simple. If you work with a financial advisor, they can send you the correct form to fill out to update your beneficiaries.   Please notify us so we can recognize your generosity.

A Gift in Your Will

To make a charitable bequest, you will need to create a new will/or use your current will

  • Your gift can be a percentage of your estate or a specific cash amount, security or property
  • Upon your death, Bishop Guilfoyle will receive your designated gift

Sample Bequest Statement:

I give and bequeath ____% of the rest and residue of my property, both real and personal, belonging to me at the time of my death and remaining after payment or provision for taxes and other expenses, to Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School d/b/a Bishop Guilfoyle Academy, c/o the Advancement Office, 2400 Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA, 16602.

Notes:

  • Since your gift is not actually made until your death, you can change your mind at any time
  • We understand your circumstances may change; make changes at any time

Gifts of Life Insurance

Gifts of life insurance are an excellent way to make a charitable gift to Bishop Guilfoyle.  Often times, people have multiple policies that they have purchased for various reasons.  Perhaps a policy you purchased years ago is no longer needed for the purpose intended.   A gift of life insurance is easy to make and in most cases is tax advantaged.  Proceeds are paid out to the beneficiary shortly after death.  You may choose to make Bishop Guilfoyle the owner and beneficiary of a policy, or simply a beneficiary.  Please contact the Advancement Office for more information on making a gift of life insurance.
